Thirteen people were injured as of Saturday noon following a magnitude-6.4 earthquake off the coast of Japan's southwestern island of Kyushu.
Among the injured, six were reported from Oita prefecture.
The quake happened at around 1:08 a.m. local time, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
But Japan's meteorological agency has warned of the possibility of a strong earthquake again in the coming week.
