China, Iran and Russia hold second joint naval exercises

China, Iran and Russia held their second joint maritime military exercises between January 18 and 20 in the Gulf of Oman. The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) sent a guided-missile destroyer, a supply ship, helicopters and 40 members of the PLAN Marine Corps to the exercises. The PLAN conducted multiple drills with the Iranian and Russian navies, such as daytime and nighttime live firing, movements in formation and joint anti-piracy exercises.
