A British court granted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange permission to appeal to the UK Supreme Court against his extradition to the United States. U.S. authorities have accused the Australian-born Assange of 18 counts relating to WikiLeaks' release of confidential U.S. military records. These were classified documents relating to the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, including abuses by its military.
