From farmer to factory worker, a Xinjiang woman's path out of poverty

In 2019, Uhalihan was working at a textile factory in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region when a suspension of operations caused by a delayed delivery of cotton cast a shadow over her livelihood. The young mother feared going back to her old farming life that barely helped make ends meet. This is Uhalihan's story as she tries to shake off poverty and offer her family a decent life.
