A stampede left at least eight people dead and about 50 people injured ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations match in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, the country's state TV Cameroon Radio Television reported on Monday.
The stampede happened as spectators tried to enter Olembe Stadium to watch the match between the host nation and Comoros.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the governing body of African football, said in a statement on its official website that, it "is aware of the incident that took place at Olembe Stadium," and "is currently investigating the situation and trying to get more details on what transpired."
