Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian told a news conference on Tuesday that China will ensure the safety of its citizens in Burkina Faso, after the military announced on Monday that it had ousted President Roch Marc Christian Kabore. 

Zhao added that China has urged all sides to resolve disputes through dialogue in order to ensure stability and unity.

The Chinese Embassy in Burkina Faso issued a safety reminder on Monday after the army closed the borders and dissolved the government and the national assembly.
