International remittance is gradually being restored in Tonga, Project Coordinator for the Tonga Parliament Buildings Project Faka'iloatonga Taumoefolau posted on social media Tuesday.

The coordinator said MoneyGram works only at the main Bank of South Pacific (BSP) branch in Nuku'alofa. Remittance via Western Union can only be accepted at the main office in Fasi/Fongoloa. Digicel's MyCash online payment service has also been restored.

BSP's offices in town have reopened for business, and ATMs are working again.
