The three Olympic villages for the 2022 Winter Olympics in the three competition zones of Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou opened on Thursday.
Around 2,880 athletes from 91 delegations will enter the villages in the coming days. Over 360 of them from more than 20 delegations are expected to arrive on Thursday.
Those who have already checked in began to decorate their rooms with team flags and other items. Some of the balconies are already covered in signature colors including "Chinese red" and "Dutch orange."
Delegations have confirmed there will be a total of 4,129 people living in the three villages, 1,497 in the Beijing competition zone, 986 in Yanqing and 1,646 in Zhangjiakou.
The 2022 Winter Olympic Games will take place between February 4 and 20 in the three competition zones. In the past few weeks, heads of state and Olympic Committee leaders of many countries and regions have sent their support and wishes for Beijing 2022 as well as their opposition to any attempt to politicize the Games.
In seven days, the 2022 Winter Olympic flame will be lit at the opening ceremony at Beijing National Stadium on February 4. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Argentine President Alberto Fernández, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and other heads of state will all be attending the opening ceremony.
