China's first dual-fuel powered 210,000-ton super bulk-cargo ship was officially delivered to a Singaporean customer in Shanghai, eastern China, on January 28, indicating that the country's shipbuilding industry has formally entered the "dual-fuel" era in the design and construction of large bulk-cargo ships. The new vessel is driven by liquefied natural gas and traditional fuel oil. When powered by liquefied natural gas, it can complete a round-trip between China and Brazil. Still, the ship's emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, are designed to be 41 percent below the international standard.
