Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Saturday called on non-CPC members to contribute more of their wisdom and strength and improve their own abilities.
Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at an annual gathering with representatives of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), persons without party affiliation and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, Xi extended his greetings and best wishes to them for the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on February 1.
He said 2021 was a year of milestone significance for the Party and the country. The year will go down in history as the CPC celebrated its centenary and China eradicated absolute poverty and made historic achievements in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

Xi thanked non-CPC members for their contributions to the achievements made in 2021 and called on them to actively pool their wisdom and strength and make political consultation more effective.
In 2022, the CPC will convene its 20th National Congress, he said, adding that the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC should be maintained and improved.
Xi also urged non-CPC parties to improve their abilities of political consultation, organizing, leading, cooperating capabilities and the ability to solve their own problems.
He also asked the ACFIC to do more to promote the healthy development of the non-public sector of the economy and the people working in this sector.
