The 40-day peak travel period has begun in China, with the country's biggest holiday, the Spring Festival, just two days away. 

Officials estimated that more than 30 million passenger trips were made nationwide on Saturday, most on highways, with coronavirus control remaining a top priority. But authorities said local governments must refrain from recklessly imposing additional control measures targeting people returning from other regions.
