Iraqi forces have carried out an airstrike on a cave being used as a hideout by the Islamic State (IS), in the Hatra desert in the southern part of the province. The strike hit at dawn, killing five militants inside, according to a statement by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command.

An anonymous army source said that a security force was dispatched there to search the area.
