Russian foreign ministry said on Wednesday it will take reciprocal measures against Germany's ban on the broadcast of Russian TV channel RT on its territory.
"A decision by the German media regulator is a clear signal [showing] that Russia's concerns have been demonstratively ignored," the Russian foreign ministry in Moscow said, adding that such a step leaves Russia no choice but to take "reciprocal measures" against German press outlets certified in Russia, as well as internet platforms which have deleted RT DE accounts "in an arbitrary and baseless way."
The ministry did not specify what particular measures will be taken.
The German broadcasting regulator said Wednesday it has banned the transmission of the German-language channel of Russian state broadcaster RT, amid rising tensions between Moscow and the West.
The transmission of the channel "RT DE" was "prohibited because it does not have the necessary broadcasting license," the authorization and oversight commission for the German regulator said in a statement.
