The Bengal tiger, also known as the Indian tiger, is the most common tiger subspecies. Wild Bengal tigers live in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal. They're among the biggest cat species on earth. Tigers play an important role in the balance of nature. The abandoned prey of tigers provide food for many mammals, including reptiles and birds. They also keep prey populations in check. But due to hunting and loss of habitat, the animal is endangered.
