Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday met with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob, who arrived in Beijing earlier this week for Friday night's opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

Xi highlighted the all-round cooperative partnership between the two countries. He said China and Singapore have enjoyed a high-level of strategic mutual trust and deepened practical cooperation since his state visit to the country in 2015.

The Chinese president said the two countries should strengthen talks and cooperation for the post-pandemic recovery and regional prosperity, and deepen cooperation in the green economy, digital economy, smart cities and tech innovation, and inject new impetus for bilateral cooperation.

He also urged the two countries to jointly promote regional economic integration by effectively implementing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement.

Halimah said she was honored to attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, and expressed appreciation of the unifying power of Beijing 2022.

She affirmed the bilateral ties, saying the foundation of Singapore-China relations is very solid.

Projects, such as China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City and China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, represent the high level of Singapore-China cooperation, Halimah said.

Halimah also expressed Singapore's readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in fields including green growth and digital economy, to jointly promote regional integration, and to ensure relations with China remain substantive and forward-looking.
