China's Gu Ailing kicked off her Olympic debut campaign with a gold medal in the freestyle skiing women's freeski big air event at the Beijing Winter Olympics on Tuesday. 

Gu, 18, achieved a total of 188.25 points from her two best attempts out of three. 

China's figure skater Jin Boyang delivered a good opening with a combination of quad Lutz and triple toeloop, which reaped 90.98 points to qualify for the final on Tuesday. A tumble on the flying camel spin and triple Axel left him 11th on the rankings.

Austria's Benjamin Karl won the gold medal of the men's snowboard parallel giant slalom at the Beijing Olympic Winter Games on Tuesday.
