China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has reported a record high of 1,161 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,153 local transmissions, the health authorities said on Wednesday.

HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam Tuesday unveiled stricter social distancing measures to cope with the recent COVID-19 surge, reiterating that the "zero COVID-19" is the best strategy for the region.
