More than 2,000 volunteers are stepping up to play supporting roles in fighting the epidemic in Baise City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as the city of 3.6 million people is battling with the latest COVID-19 flare-up.

On Monday, nearly 100 new cases forced authorities to lock down the city for three days. Local authorities said their main focus now is bringing the situation under control and ensuring all residents cope well with the lockdown.
