UK's Truss makes another geographical gaffe on Russia during meeting
CGTN

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss made another geographical error during a closed-door meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday, Kommersant newspaper reported, citing two diplomatic sources.

According to the report, Lavrov had asked Truss if she recognized Russian sovereignty over Rostov and Voronezh, two regions in the south of the country. Truss replied that Britain would never recognize them as Russian, and had to be corrected by her ambassador.

The news came after Truss was mocked earlier this month by Maria Zakharova, Russia's foreign ministry spokesperson, for failing to know the difference between the Baltic and Black seas.

Truss said at the BBC's Sunday Morning show on February 2 that "we are supplying and offering extra support into our Baltic allies across the Black Sea."
