Rescuers saved a rarely-seen spotted seal pup stranded on a beach in Yantai City, east China's Shandong Province.

The mother seal reportedly gave birth to her pup in the evening and was scared away by tourists in the morning, leaving the pup on the beach. Rescuers checked and disinfected the newborn pup, and it was temporarily taken care of by the Ocean Aquarium of Penglai. The spotted seal is under first-class state protection in China.
