Over 346 million Chinese people have participated in winter sports activities over the past six years, with hundreds of new ice rinks and ski resorts being built in cities across the country. A ski resort in northeast Beijing's Ping'gu District has become a major employer, offering jobs to hundreds of villagers and boosting the local economy. According to the China Tourism Academy, the total income of the winter sports economy is expected to surpass 1 trillion yuan by 2025.
