The United States on Saturday denied having conducted military operations in Russian territorial waters, after Moscow claimed that a Russian naval vessel had repelled a U.S. submarine in Russian waters in the Pacific Ocean.

Russia accused Washington of violating international law and creating a national security threat over the incident at a time of high tension between Moscow and Washington over a Russian military buildup near Ukraine.
