Among China's biggest-ever delegation for the Olympic Winter Games, six members are from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including three athletes who compete in cross-country skiing and speed skating.

With abundant ice and snow resources, Xinjiang has been taking advantage of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to promote winter sports in the region. Many veteran athletes in Xinjiang are part of the effort to get people more active in winter sports. 54-year-old Ysmar Qadir is one of them.
