A "datiehua" folk art display, which literally means to "beat the iron flower" and involves splashing molten metal to create sparkling streaks of light, was staged recently in Yongjing County, northwest China's Gansu Province. Sparks rained down as performers sprayed molten iron to simulate fireworks. The performance is a traditional way of celebrating the Chinese New Year.
