Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday called the U.S. claim of Russia planning to invade Ukraine on February 16 an unprecedented campaign to escalate tensions in Europe.

"Indeed, the whole world is in a fever from this, this is nothing but an absolutely unprecedented information campaign to provoke and escalate tensions in Europe," Peskov was quoted by TASS as he spoke to reporters.

Last week, Politico reported U.S. President Joe Biden claimed Russia may attack Ukraine on February 16, during a conversation with his Transatlantic allies.
