Chinese central government sends experts to HK to help curb COVID-19

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has reported over 6,000 new COVID-19 cases as it battles an Omicron surge. Since January, the city has recorded more than 16,000 in total, with hospitals and testing facilities being overwhelmed.

The Chinese central government said it has sent the first batch of epidemiological experts to Hong Kong, and the next step will be coordinating healthcare resources to assist the local government in curbing the pandemic.
