Election of the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will be postponed to May 8 due to the current COVID-19 situation, Carrie Lam, chief executive of the HKSAR, said on Friday. Carrie Lam said at a press conference that the decision was made as COVID cases are increasing at an alarming rate throughout the SAR. She said the city is facing its most severe and critical situation yet, adding that the government should focus all their resources towards the fight against the pandemic.
