French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Saturday spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov over the phone, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It also mentioned that the French minister expressed his deep concern over the escalation in eastern Ukraine.

The ministry mentioned that the space for dialogue was always possible, and France remained determined to work on it.
