The Chinese mainland recorded 144 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with 71 linked to local transmissions and 73 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

A total of 38 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 686 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 107,851, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 22,468 (16,190 recoveries, 288 deaths)

Macao: 79 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 20,007 (13,742 recoveries, 852 deaths)
