The Chinese mainland recorded 138 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, with 59 linked to local transmissions and 79 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Tuesday.

A total of 46 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 681 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 107,989, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 26,038 (16,449 recoveries, 300 deaths)

Macao: 79 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 20,056 (13,742 recoveries, 852 deaths)
