A judicial source in Burkina Faso says one person has been detained and an investigation has opened after an explosion killed scores of people near a gold mining site on Monday. The blast happened at a market for small-scale gold miners in the rural commune of Gbomblora in the southwestern province of Poni. The judicial source said the toll has reached 63 dead and 40 injured. Local authorities say the owner of the shop at the center of the blast has been arrested.
