South Korea has approved Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for use in children aged 5-11, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that they should receive two injections equal to one-third the regular dose, three weeks apart.

Children with significantly compromised immune systems can get a booster four weeks later.
