The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on the company in charge of building Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The sanctions target the "Nord Stream Two" public limited company and its corporate officers. The pipeline has been completed and was built to double the gas flow capacity from Russia to Germany but has yet to be put into operation. Germany said on Tuesday it was indefinitely suspending the project. The U.S. and the EU worry it will increase Europe's dependence on Russian energy supplies. Biden says the move is only part of sanctions in response to Russia's actions in the breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine.
