Ukraine is now under a state of emergency that will last 30 days and it has called up reservists. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said late Wednesday that he has sought a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin but has received only silence. Speaking Russian, Zelenskyy made an emotional appeal to Russians to reject any support for "a major war in Europe." The Ukrainian foreign ministry has warned its citizens in Russia to leave immediately. Russia is evacuating diplomatic staff from all of its missions in Ukraine.
