Eighty-two Ukrainian soldiers have laid down their arms and voluntarily surrendered to a unit of Russian armed forces on Snake Island, local media reported, adding that they are required to sign a pledge not to take part in combat operations. 

According to the report, the Russian Defense Ministry said these soldiers would soon be returned to their families.
