Chinese Embassy in Ukraine said on Friday it plans to evacuate Chinese nationals in Ukraine on charter flights and those wishing to leave could register with the embassy.
In a notice posted on its official WeChat account, the embassy said the decision was made due to deterioration of domestic situation in Ukraine.
Russia on Thursday's launched a special military operation in the Donbas region, which the Russian defense ministry said the task was successfully fulfilled.
In an interview with the China Media Group on Friday, Ding Jianwei, a diplomat at the Chinese embassy said Chinese nationals and Chinese-funded enterprises in Ukraine are now at high security risk in light of recent events.
He said the Chinese embassy will make utmost effort to protect Chinese citizens.
There are more than 6,000 Chinese citizens in Ukraine, including students and businessmen.
