Cutting ties with Ukraine is not Russia's choice, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova at a press conference on Friday. 

Ukraine has notified the Russian side that it had cut diplomatic ties with Russia, the spokesperson confirmed. 

"We deeply regret that the Kyiv regime has chosen the path of severing all its ties with Russia and everything linked to anything Russian," Zakharova said.

The Russian Armed Forces are not targeting Ukrainian cities in the special military operation, but "putting the Ukrainian Armed Forces' infrastructure out of operation," she said.
