The Chinese mainland recorded 234 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with 87 linked to local transmissions and 147 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

A total of 114 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 1,006 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 109,326 with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 68,851 (18,236 recoveries, 659 deaths)

Macao: 81 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 20,433 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
