China hopes Russia and Ukraine maintain their dialogue and negotiations, and work out a political solution to realize the common security of Europe, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Tuesday at a regular press conference.

Wang said China welcomes the Russia-Ukraine negotiations that started on Monday.

Commenting on casualties, Wang said China expresses its sympathies for casualties caused during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, once again stressing that China hopes all sides will show restraint to avoid escalating the situation, and especially to avoid a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

When asked whether China would provide aid to Ukraine, Wang said China is ready to make efforts to ease the situation in Ukraine, and will release relevant information in due course.
