Mineral pigment painting has a history of thousands of years in China, evidenced by Xinjiang's Qiuci Grottoes and the Dunhuang murals in Gansu. Young Chinese artist Lian Yang is bringing it back by combining ancient and contemporary techniques to create paintings that cater to a younger audience.
