Chinese calligrapher holds exhibition at food market, historical complex
05:43

Guessing riddles is an age-old tradition in China with game often played during the annual Lantern Festival. In Chinese capital Beijing, calligrapher Qiu Zhijie is doing what he does best – doing calligraphy at a local market. From eggs and wine labels to food boxes and aprons for vendors, Qiu is finding inspiration everywhere he goes. But he doesn't stop there. He extends his artistic vision to Yongqingfang in south China's Guangzhou, where he displays hundreds of hand-written riddles. Steering away from the traditional style, his recently designed lanterns exhibit the idea that our lives are ruled by messages and words, and technology may be even enhancing it.
