The Chinese mainland recorded 224 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with 71 linked to local transmissions and 153 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission.

A total of 169 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 1,209 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 109,750 with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 98,135 (19,495 recoveries, 990 deaths)

Macao: 81 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 20,533 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
