China says it will continue to trade with Russia, even as many Western countries are imposing harsh sanctions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, "China firmly opposes any illegal unilateral sanctions. We believe sanctions are never a fundamental nor effective way to solve problems."

The spokesperson said a Chinese national who was injured by a bullet in Ukraine is now out of danger. And more than 2,500 Chinese nationals in Ukraine have been evacuated. There were about 6,000 Chinese citizens living in the country. China says it will continue to make every effort to protect the safe movement and evacuation of its nationals in Ukraine and provide support and assistance to those remaining.
