The Russian Foreign Ministry has criticized the U.S.'s expulsion of 12 diplomats from the Russian mission to the UN. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Washington's move was what she called a "deliberate and ridiculous escalation" of prevailing tensions in Russia-US relations. She added that it violated the U.S.'s commitment to an international treaty on hosting the United Nations on its soil.
