The Chinese mainland recorded 214 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with 54 linked to local transmissions and 160 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission.

A total of 143 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 1,298 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 109,974 with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 118,420 (20,085 recoveries, 1168 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 20,582 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
