A takin walked into a village in Longnan City, northwest China's Gansu Province at the end of last month, and left with a slight limp after series of incidents. 

The takin is under first class national protection in China. Experts said the animal occasionally visits residential areas in search of food when there is not enough on the mountainside. Normally, it will not take the initiative to attack people, but keeping a reasonable distance is advisable.
