China's top political advisory body has made consultations and suggestions to promote a good start to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period, a top official said on Friday.

Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the remarks while delivering a Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee work report at the opening meeting of the fifth session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee. 

"In the past year, we conducted 25 consultation sessions, organized 82 inspection surveys and research tours, and filed 5039 proposals and collected and distributed 867 conference speeches," Wang said.

In promoting high-quality development, he stressed the CPPCC held special consultative meetings of the Standing Committee on how to create a new development pattern.

The CPPCC conducted surveys and organized consultations in various aspects, such as expanding domestic demand, accelerating the launch of new major national science and technology projects and promoting the healthy development of the Internet game industry, he said.

The CPPCC also held special consultations on consolidating poverty alleviation and dealing with population aging, he added.

"We conducted inspections and made suggestions in developing a high-quality education system, a national public health protection network, and explore and protect traditional Chinese medicine resources," Wang said.

He also noted that the CPPCC organized consultations in promoting ecological civilization construction and advancing high-level opening-up.

China's top political advisory body started its annual session on Friday afternoon in Beijing.
