At the opening ceremony of Beijing Winter Paralympics, a performance directed by Piao Mei-hui starred performers with and without disability, themed around the perseverance of the Paralympic athletes.

The performance involved 16 athletes from a number of different disciplines .

Shen Chen, director of the opening and closing ceremonies, said in an interview with CGTN that performances are never the top priority. The fact those athletes show their dedication or simply appear at the ceremony means a lot more to him.
