Cards for international payment systems Visa and Mastercard issued by Russian banks will remain usable in Russia, with customer funds on accounts linked to such cards being fully saved and available, TASS has reported, citing Russia's central bank.

However, Visa and Mastercard cards from Russian banks will not be usable in foreign online stores and offline, the central bank confirmed.

This came after the two card payment giants announced Saturday they will suspend operations in Russia, the latest major U.S. firms to join the business freeze-out of Moscow.
