China will work with all parties to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) step by step, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a press conference on Monday.

The steps include forging synergy in priority areas, responding to the needs of all countries, partnering with cooperation mechanisms and reaching out to partners of all sectors, Wang told reporters at a press conference on the sidelines of the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress.

The foreign minister said the centerpiece of the initiative is to put people front and center. He also said the initiative will facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
